DIY Cubism

As you can tell, lately, I've been on a MASSIVE Apartment Therapy kick. Sorry for all the re-posts, those of you who are faithful AT readers, but I just can't help myself!

This canvas is covered in paint chips to make up Marilyn Monroe's famous visage.

This Abe Lincoln piece is a canvas with painted squares of varying colors of grey.

"The Lincoln portrait was done by pixelating a photo and boiling it down to 9 shades of gray (both done in Photoshop). I built the canvas, gridded it off in 2 inch squares, and mixed the different shades of paint. At that point it basically became a paint by number

LA Musician's Loft

I'm in LOVE with this post from AT: A Midcentury Modern Musician's Loft. The owners are pretty famous musicians living in Longbeach, California (just South of LA). I love what they've done with this huge warehouse space- they've separated it with a wall system on tracks for flexibility! They have private space, public space, and work space, all of which flows and feels like one beautiful entity! I also am crazy about their midcentury-antiquey-artsy eclectic style! Nothing is matchy-matchy, but everything goes. Check out these pictures and head over to the original post!

Finn Juhl "45" chair

I know I've seen this chair before. But I hadn't paid much attention to it until I saw it was inspiration for one of the AT Design Showcase's Semifinalists. I love the organic flowing lines. It's warm and inviting and classically beautiful.

Party at the Fig

I had the opportunity to go to a birthday party at the fabulous Hotel Figueroa while here in LA. The Los Angeles Times reviewed this Moroccan themed hotel and described "the ornately tiled bar with its flickering candles, well-worm wooden stools and tranquil blue pool are the perfect place to enjoy a mojito with fresh muddled lime." The ambiance was great (the food was not) and I immediately wished for a middle eastern trip.

Two Indulgences

Two things I really love: wine and coffee. I think I found this image on Design Sponge in a designer interview. I love this photo so much... I would love a huge print framed.

I wish I could remember where I found this image.....
