Birk Love

I've been watching this Birkenstock craze to see if it will stick...

My only connotation of that sandal was that hippies and my aunt with foot problems wear them so they didn't exactly strike me as glam. I was so skeptical, assuming it would be a mild trend that not many people actually embrace (think, recent overall comeback), but Y'ALL, it's sticking around! And they're actually looking AWESOME!

Then I saw Sarah over at Whoorl gushing about them on Facebook and so many people commented with their Birk-clad feet! And all so cute. It kind of solidified my enchantment.

My very sweet ol' lady Abby (that means "roomie" in Aggie talk) messaged me one day about seeing my comment on FB about Birks. She was wanting the exact pair! Within the week, she had found some stellar deal at DSW and is now the proud owner of some Black Gizahs. The following week, I texted her asking how they were feeling, and as we're talking, I get out to fill up my car at the gas station and the woman in the sleek black escalade next to me steps out of her car wearing, you guessed it, some Gizahs.

Duh, if Heidi Klum is wearing them, they must be in. 

Yah, so pretty much, all this to say, destiny wants me to get myself a pair. And who am I to disagree with destiny? :)



 

Happy New Year... 2 weeks in...

I've got organization and decorating on the brain, big time right now. Big time. We are working on finding a new place to live, and I get a little excited with all the possibilities of new decorating schemes. I found all these unrelated, but lovely images on my desktop (I'm an image hoarder, what can I say) while I was organizing files on my computer (again, organization bug is hitting me big time). So here's some of my favorite eye candy.

Common denominator: grey walls & bright white walls, black and white, graphic patterns, rustic metal pieces, art, leather, textured fabrics, these are a few of my favorite things.

You might be wondering why I included some outdoor summery looking photos... that's because in Texas, our winters are actually quite beautiful. Especially near the gulf, our winters can even bring mild weather, perfect for finding a spot on a patio to relax. 

Also, sort of befitting this style is the wool floppy hat. I bought one. Now working on styling it with the rest of my clothes.... here are inspirations:

Tomorrow is my half marathon, folks. Tomorrow. I am giddy. At least that's what I tell myself when I start to feel terrified. I say, "self, that's just excitement." Hoping that works.

J.Crew, I love you.

 Why is J.Crew style so effortless and fantastic? I mean, don't you always wear pumps with your cut-offs and look this fabulous?

 In all seriousness, I did buy a straw fedora that I am LOVING this summer. It's perfect for frumpy hair days. Can I just say that I ADORE that greeny-gold color on that cardi?

Casual top and jeans, but glam necklace and camel/nude pumps?! Amazing. Why is this so simple?

This dress is good looking. I dont' have anything specific to say about it other than, declare it's loveliness.

I've always wanted a white pantsuit. Always. You can ask my mom. Ever since I saw the movie Sabrina (1995 version with Harrison Ford) when i was 11, I've wanted a white pantsuit like one of Julia Ormond's.

These shoes are hot. Period.

So there's my J.Crew Review. Love the summer looks. Love them.
