Autumn is in the air!

Happy Monday, to you all! We've finally gotten some autumn weather here in Houston. The high is 80 today and the low 56! Gloriously sunshiney, not a cloud in the bright blue sky! Just the way I like it.

The weather makes me want to get out my yarns and crochet hooks and start a new project. Maybe something like this in a navy or grey (can't remember which blog I got this picture from). A few of my friends and I decided to start knitting days, when we teach ourselves to knit, get together to knit and gab.

Cute.

I love this Plantation ad. The colors and patterns are lovely. The equestrian art, which I keep seeing as a trend, is great too.

The fall Marc Jacobs line is colorful, flowing yet architectural, and full of great colors. Such great inspiration for interiors!

Some peppy inspiration for today. So true, right?
I'm choosing contentment and gratitude for today, which for me, equals happiness. :)

Monday Inspiration

Hi friends! I hope you had a relaxing weekend like I did! My brother came to visit, we paid a visit to the art museums, we had delicious dinner with friends, visited family on the north side of town, helped friends move, tried out some new raw vegan recipes, and even got to go out for a walk/jog in the beautiful cooler weather (dear weather, please stay this lovely).

I am in good spirits and excited for this next week, translation: I'm inspired.

This Monday's Inspiration:

This print.
Pretty much sums it up, don't you think?
by Jennifer Ramos

The soft rain showers that made the air smell so fresh and clean!
I usually despise the rain, but these quick summer showers have been bright and energizing.

This stairwell that reminds me of a mad scientist's lair.
Not to mention, that slate blue wall with wooden floor and treads is a wonderful color combination.

Beautiful Lonny mag and Larson-Juhl.
This online magazine is just eye candy (psst, isn't that bedspread to die for?!).

This calligraphy inspired script tattoo.
So very lovely.

Happy Monday!

Happy Late Monday!

via.
I'm heading out for a midday run (as soon as I post this) and my legs are just itching for it. It's been nearly two weeks since I've fallen out of my running routine (thanks to sickness and traveling).

Unexpected Color Palette: Aqua and Eggplant.
The soft grey background is the perfect background for this combo.

Someone did a wedding in these colors! How lovely! I especially love the peacock feathers. hearts!

Unusual Art: Drafting Tools.
I like this idea of mounting tools as art. I spy drafting tools!

Spa Luxury: Humongous Bath Tub.
I was bemoaning missing our huge garden tub at the first place we lived when we were brand-newlyweds. I never get tired of a nice bubble bath with fragrant bath bombs and salts. Mmmm... relaxation.

via.
Make-It-Yourself Summer Treats: Healthy Popcicles.
All I need are some super cute popcicle molds (like these or these) and fresh fruit. Yum!

Now for that run....

Monday Inspiration

Hello, new week! I'm ready for you! Here's some inspiration to get you going too.

Glam Cam (Diaz, that is). How care-free and glam she is! That's how I look when I'm just hanging 'round the house. Notice those tufted Barcelona-eque chairs... the breezy white color palette with color from flowers. So Cali.

Speaking of Barcelona Chairs.... really trying to fit them into the budget for a project I'm working on. They're just so classically chic.

I often neglect my bedroom when it comes to decorating. I am guilty of treating it like the functional ugly step-child since no one really comes over to see it. But I love the simplicity of this image, combined with the striking artwork. You don't need much fluff added to this, do you?

I predict that my color for the summer season will be this red-orange. I've loved this color for a few years now, but I'm starting to see it everywhere- it's definitely gone commercial, wouldn't you say? I love it for summertime. By the way, can anyone source that upholstery fabric on that settee? I think it's gorgeous.

Hope you have a great week ahead!

Monday Inspiration: Today, known as Design Brain Jumble

Today, I am moving us.
We are temporarily going to be living in this darling old little house, with glass door knobs, hex tile (yes, HEX!), and old squeaky wooden floors. I'm running around, organizing and cleaning today, but didn't want to forget about you, my blog friends. After all, it is Monday... a day requiring pretty inspiration (as well as copious amounts of coffee).

Love this beautiful kitchen renovation, as seen on Design*Sponge- navy lowers, DIY concrete countertops, and open shelving. I hope you also noticed the chartreuse pottery accents. So lovely.

I adore this bathroom, with walls entirely covered in aqua mosaic tiles!

What a great idea for a wall or space divider! Kind of industrial but organic, if that's even a possible combination. via.

On a completely different note, how cool is this sliding door detail!?  I have a thing for sliding doors and barn doors.

So... that's what I've been looking at lately...

Happy Monday, friends!

Monday Inspiration: Today, known as iWant.

I want to be here: Monaco, sunbathing beneath a red and white umbrella, sipping something chilly.

I want that necklace. I would rock that.

I want to live here... in J.Crew... the flagship store. Is that weird? It's so beautiful- Parson's table, Platner chairs, herringbone oak (?) floors, and that fantastic light fixture (anyone know what that is called?).

That's it for Monday.
Hope you have a great week!

**** Correction: My good friend Collin, alerted me that the fantastic light is a Gueridon fixture by Serge Mouille. Thanks, Collin!

Monday Inspiration

Good Morning! I'm crossing my fingers for a fabulous week this week! Here are some pretty pictures to get the Monday happy/creative juices flowing:

Atelier AM has a lovely portfolio full of pretty images.

I really want to add this book to my design book collection.

SmittenKitchen posted this recipe a few days ago and I can't stop thinking about it. It could be healthy right? I think it would be much better as a breakfast-for-dinner kind of meal so it could be served with a salad... just sayin'.

Still test-driving the red lipstick. Can you tell it's red?

Monday Inspiration

Another rainy Monday? sigh. Today I'm working on some ideas and plans about our next phase... project: putting-life-back-together-after-a-year-of-wanderlusting. More on that later. ;)

J'adore Kishani Perera. I've blogged about her before, I know, but today, I just love this image. It's so perfect for the rainy drizzling day. I love the greyish-white cool background; I love the arched window; I love the white painted brick fire place; I love the dark (is it navy or is it black) front door; I love the restrained splashes of yellows, teals, and purple-y pinks.
I love the simplicity of it all.

I'm dying to make these: Coconut Milk Fudge! (from Smitten Kitchen)
Apparently these are chocolate/coconutty dulce de leche little treats. The foundation being sweetened condensed milk... a Southern thing, isn't it? Add cocunut milk, butter and corn syrup (don't let the "it's made from corn and is fine in moderation" crap fool you into thinking this is healthy), boil, reduce heat to low until you get  a fudgey texture (mmm), then refridgerate. The fun part looks like the rolling into balls and dipping into pistachios or toasted coconut or sprinkles.
(Really. I'm heading out the door to the grocery store to grab the ingredients as soon as I'm finished with this post)

This room is killing me.
After scrolling through my ridiculously long blogger reader, I came across these images (from Design Dump) and saw that they're from a furniture manufacturer IN SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE!!!
I LOVE San Miguel! We went for New Year's this year and it was FABULOUS!
Anyway, the furniture makers/artisans are called Casamidy
Go there and drool.
Lovely things.

this is where we stayed in San Miguel.
You need to go there.
Really, you do.

Happy New Week!

Monday Inspiration

Today is a rainy day.
Not the kind that is dark and depressing and makes me wonder if I'm experiencing Seasonal Affective Disorder. No, it's the kind of rainy day that's delicious. The sun keeps peeping out from behind the clouds in between showers. The air is chilly but not freezing cold. And I'm in the Texas hill country- one of my favorite places.
It's where I grew up. I think the winters are the best here. It's usually sunny, windy, and moderately cold- happy winter weather. So I'm in a good mood for a Monday.

Back to the rain... aren't these adorable? My friend Lauren just got them. I think they'd make a gloomy rainy day a happy one. Everyone should have a cute pair of wellies, don't you think?

The other day I googled "Westies on a walk" and this picture popped up. Really?! These Westies are definitely not walking. But how adorable is this little old man on his moped!??!!? Guess some people have their own definition of "taking the dog out." LOVE it. :)

Do you know about Dezeen? One of my old friends from interior design school sent me a link to it the other day and I can't seem to stop looking at it. It's a design and architecture blog featuring cutting edge projects.

Lately, I've really been missing Domino. sigh. I was visiting my friend Katie, who still displays old issues on her coffee table... I leafed through several and was transported back to pre-economy failure days when I took for granted my favorite shelter magazine. I was a faithful subscriber since it's very first issue, but stupidly threw most of the old issues away. I think I still have 2007-2009 in a box in my storage unit somewhere. I'm a little excited to think about digging them out. They're like old friends.

Speaking of Domino magazine, photographer Anna Wolf, whose work often graced Domino's pages has an incredible portfolio. I especially love her portraits and travel images.

Quite the feminine perspective, I think.

I hope the rest of your Monday is wondeful!
