Mannequins

I think I'm into mannequins as interior sculpture. My mother informs me that this is a fad from the 60's... but I really like it. Do you like it or does it creep you out?

I just discovered interior designer Kishani Perera. Her boho-chic style has been featured in many blogs and magazines as well as in the homes of several A-list celebrities. I just love her style!

Barn Meets Industrial Chic

I'm a sucker for doors on railed track systems. This barn door in particular has caught my eye! I love the yellow-green color. It's a vibrant contrast to the grey wall (in the next room), the white walls, and warm wooden floors. I also love the metal hardware- just a tinge of industrialism.

It reminds me of this lovely image- I've blogged it before and can never remember where I originally got it. It's been posted and reposted and passed around the blogosphere, it's so great!

Another example of sliding door.... not a barn door, but maybe better. Feels a little more modern.

White Hot

I dug through my "inspiration file" the other day and noticed a theme: I'm gravitating towards whites. I'm normally not into white interiors- I love color and lots of it- but these crisp white interiors are so glam, crisp, and cool! Or maybe it's the summer heat.

I think the key to a neutral color palette is texture. Having a variety of materials keeps the palette complex and rich. The woods, the metals, the lucite and glass all give a depth to the light color palette.

Quirky Quonset Hut

This World War II Quonset Hut is featured in the May 2009 Southern Living as the Best Before and After House. Located in Beaufort, South Carolina, the old barrack house was renovated by owners and architects Michael and Jane Frederick into a home with eclectic industrial charm. See their blog here.

Walk-in Closet

Check out this beautiful before and after closet remodel from Husligheter at DesignSponge!

I love the gallery style, with a wall of open shelving for shoes, and then built ins on the other side to hide hanging clothes and drawers. The only thing missing is a huge full-length mirror for catwalk practice, right?

I will always love that greenish-yellow color and that fun retro Kelly Wearstler wallpaper pattern. And what a cute idea to store jewelry and other trinkets in little glass candy dishes!

The built ins also house a vanity with Hollywood lighting! How fun! The natural window lighting is probably amazing as well. How many closets have you seen with windows????

I bet you could find everything you need for a closet redo like this from Ikea. Add a vanity area with lighting, and you're set. Love it!
