Chaos in your soul

"You need chaos in your soul to give birth to a dancing star." -Fredrich Nietzche

Although I'm not a fan of everything Nietzche, I do love this quote. Isn't it true? Creativity and growth is spawned from chaos, from limitations, from fears, and even problems. Sometimes coming to the point of finally embracing that frustrating thing can make all the difference!

Read this great article from Metropolis magazine for some different inspiration! These California architects took an old strip mall and redesigned it for their office head quarters. Here's a sneak peak at some of their beautiful photos! Wouldn't you love to work in a place like that?! That environment could breed some serious creativity-birthing chaos!

I love the black, white and wood. The tackable wall space for hanging projects and drawings is great for brainstorming.

If you have to work...

These are GORGEOUS! In2Design recently rolled out a beautiful desks/desking system that I am drooling after! Starting at 8 G's a pop, I'm not sure any commercial clients of mine would be excited about specifying these... But perhaps a wealthy client looking to completely redo a home office... :)

California Office? beautiful desking furniture, huge window wall, great view all make for a ultra modern and completely glam space!

I could definitely see these modular desks in some creative field, like maybe a cool graphic design office. This guy seems to like them... (I LOVE the 3 uniform paintings! They remind me of eyelids!)
Of course, I prefer the dark walnut finish- always. :)

With an Eames Aluminum Group chair in white leather... modern sophistication... perfection.

French

Who doesn't love Paris?  I'm currently missing it, and comforting myself with photos. Look at this little Parisien on the Metro!

And how about this lovely French Interior of Nathalie Garcons's home?
Tres magnifique, no?

I love the colors, the unusual ceiling, and the mismatched furniture pieces. I might get ride of the curtains (I usually prefer bare windows) and put in some sort of sparkly light fixture.

Like Shoes

I read somewhere that chairs are to designers what shoes are to most women- you can never have enough chairs!

I completely adore these Bouroullec-designed chairs I saw on apartment therapy!!!

Papyrus Chair: reminiscent of the Ghost chair? yes, but with sleek steel frame.

Vitra Alcove... cozy!

So chic in white!

Rich in red wine color

Last but definitely not least, the Steelwood:

Industrial meets Chic.

Twombly

Here are a few photos we took over the weekend, that I just love right now.  We visited the Menil, Rothko Chapel and Discovery Green in Houston.

Apartment Breakdown

Don't you just love this!? I can't remember where I found it, but I love the interior break down of Carrie Bradshaw's NY apartment. I LOVE it- the midcentury modern furniture pieces, the neutral color palette, and the overall relaxed vibe.

Intro to the world of blogging!

Hello, Blogland! I'll be posting/documenting/sharing all things of decor, design, color, materials, and art just to have an excuse to blog about what I love. In interior design school we were required to keep a inspiration file full of photos, magazine clippings, and materials that we loved and found inspiring. As an adult, there's no one to police me to keep one... so this blog is my accountability.
