Thrift love

Spotted these gems at a local thrift spot last week. I wanted to take all of them home!

(sorry for the photo quality- iphone blogging, y'all)

Camel leather sofa w/Danish style arms- $900

These need a reupholstery make-over! Like these similarly styled chairs upholstered in my fave Lee Jofa David Hicks La Fiorentina!

Really cool tribal woven rug- $75. Kinda small at 3.5x5, but I love the look of layering over a big seagrass rug!

Texture close up

Big cowhide, perfect for an area rug- $190.

Amazing green urn, $45

Don't think it's a real Saarinen (I checked the bottom), but cool green wool desk chair!

I only I had the space, all of these delicious finds would be mine!

Two of my greatest loves

Oh! I mean, besides my husband... and stuff.

I'm in love with westies. If you know me, you know that (I think next year is the year I finally get one! Right, husband???). But put a westie on a classic, oooh ooh, better yet, a MCM piece of furniture and I'm swooning.

Flicker. This one needs his hairs cute. ;)

Flicker. OK, this isn't MCM, but the colors are great!

Sigh.... I need one. Don't I?

xoxo,

PS- does it make me a weirdo to google "westies in eames?" I don't think so. But seriously, if you ever come across a picture of a westie IN an eames (or bertoia, or other iconic MCM piece), I expect you to email it to me. Seriously.

Mid Century Modern Dream

Oh I love a good Mid Century Modern Home, especially when it's a local Houston home.

Architect Kellie Mayfield, of Rottet Studio, and her husband designed the renovation. I adore that black and white painting. It's #85 by Christopher Deeton.

Kellie customed designed this credenza- kind of an homage to graffiti. Love that exposed brick!

This room is a flex space kind of room: guest room/office/extra room. The panton chairs are my favorite!

Beautiful white lacquer cabinets. The counter top is Pierre Brun Limestone from Walker Zanger.

Master bedroom has sliding doors that open up to the courtyard- so very cool!

The baby's room has a cool hex shelf, designed by Kellie. I spy a CB2 green pouf!

Isn't this house incredible!? I love reading about cool design in my own town.

Modern meets Vintage, again

These photos are of the amazing SOL development I've blogged about before (here). This is a home tour of a home that is now lived in and the residents decorated it themselves. As Sol put it, "this is a pretty good example of making a Modern Austin home comfy with heirlooms, personal artwork, and some very sweet mod furniture. This home is also 5 Star Austin Energy Green rated and is powered by Solar Arrays."

Awesome.

Mid-century Dream

Apartment Therapy featured this beautiful home by blogger SecondHandHannah which is now my new favorite blog. Her home is my mid-century modern craigslist-find dream. Check out these lovely images of her home:

I love the colorful pots and dishes on display in this black and white kitchen. I think my Fiestaware collection would go nicely here.
