Thrift love

Spotted these gems at a local thrift spot last week. I wanted to take all of them home!
(sorry for the photo quality- iphone blogging, y'all)

Camel leather sofa w/Danish style arms- $900

These need a reupholstery make-over! Like these similarly styled chairs upholstered in my fave Lee Jofa David Hicks La Fiorentina!

image from Furbish

Really cool tribal woven rug- $75. Kinda small at 3.5x5, but I love the look of layering over a big seagrass rug!

Texture close up

Big cowhide, perfect for an area rug- $190.

Amazing green urn, $45

Don't think it's a real Saarinen (I checked the bottom), but cool green wool desk chair!

I only I had the space, all of these delicious finds would be mine!

Because they come from nature earthy hues can instill a sense of serenity and peace within us.
Living Room Design with Earthy Hues
This serene nature-hued living room offers an inviting space to enjoy a conversation with a close friend or curl up with a good book.
Earthy Hues in a Sitting Area This unusual and charming room is filled with earthy colors of browns, beiges and turquoise. The large windows bring nature inside adding an extra earthy element. The globe pendant light must shed a wonderful glow after dark. Earthy Hues in a Living Room Design An earthy palette is reminiscent of a crisp winter’s day with its grays and whites. Earthy Hues in a Bay Window A window seat and low profile sofa get their own brush of earthy tones making the space warm and inviting. Earthy Hues used in the Kitchen Mossy green and weathered gray give this kitchen a touch of nature. I would love to have a window like the one pictured here in my own kitchen. Living Room Design with Earthy Hues An aged décor is earthy yet elegant. Warm woods and creamy whites create a welcoming space. Subtle and Relaxing Earthy Hues A modern space is made inviting with its soft natural colors of warm wood, sage green and camel. Earthy Hues in the Bathroom This white bathroom gets its natural touches from warm woods and greens. The ornate light fixture is sure to cast a lovely glow when lit.  Images 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 If you were inspired to add some eathy hues to your home, be sure to stop by Arcadian Lighting to find the perfect light fixture to compliment and accentuate those tones as well!

Sweet Sleep

So I'm on the hunt for a bed and some new fabulous bedding. But I am a little bit all over the place with style ideas. Here are a few pretties I've been staring at lately.

I would have such sweet dreams in this California desert bedding.
(I think this one's my favorite right now)

This feels like waking up in a garden.

Peacock blue walls with a nailhead trimmed headboard are the perfect background for this grey and cream chevron bedding. Love it. I'd do a more antique-y bedside table and one big piece of art over the bed, if it were my room.

This one looks feminine, dramatic, but super cuddley and comfortable.
The velvet headboards against those dark walls is so striking!

This tangerine and coral color combination on white bead board walls is so fresh and the headboard and duvet are a bit preppy. I like how they added that great piece of art and those vintage brass fixtures for a little more personality.

I know I've posted this room before but it's just so unique I have to post it again. I LOVE that David Hicks La Fiorentina fabric on the bedskirt and canopy! But I also love the grasscloth wallpaper, cowhide rug, and modern art. Putting a desk on one side of the bed instead of a matching nightstand is a great change too. Personally, I'm not wild about poster beds, so I'd modify with a cool wooden or simple upholstered headboard.

Round Top

I didn't go to Round Top this year (it's been unbearably hot!), but I did go a year and a half ago with my co-hort and kindred spirit Katie. I never posted pictures so I thought I would now. Tis the season.

I wore boots hoping for fall weather
(dont worry- I switched to some heinously ugly flip flops later.)

Here's me and kindred Katie

Katie, obliging me by posing on an orange velvet sofa.

Some pretty linen pieces...

Some pretty concrete planters

Raw fig pizza! I brought some raw vegan lunch fixin's. No meat on a stick for us!

Katie hunting for goods in one of the tents.

Me, squinting in the sweltering sun, in some Saarinen tulip chairs (hello, ugly flip flops and ponytail).

Cool signage

More fun junk!

We saw lots of Airstreams!
I guess some people were parking out there for the week! How cool!

I'm a sucker for letters and metal/industrial pieces!

Cool lights.

Clutter- the booth I wanted to visit most!

Due to excessive sweating and walking in the sweltering August sun, we called it quits around 4pm. We headed back to the parking lot only to find Katie's car was missing- it had been towed! Two kind ladies, who had saves their own car from a similar fate, volunteered to help us (one of the ladies threw herself on her car as the tow truck man was hooking her car to his big mean hook). They drove us faaaaar away to where Katie's car was impounded. Instead of pay over $200 to the towing co, Katie turned on the water works and gave such a great performance, which convinced the man to give her back her car for cheap.

It was a Fun day! Completely exhausting and we didn't find anything we could live without, but fun nonetheless.

Anyone else got any good stories from Round Top?

Dark and Moody

Love some dark and moody interiors, don't you? This dark wallcovering makes a dramatic background. And check out that entry table- so unique!

This dining room is so fun! Love those vintage chairs, and that funky light fixture! I would add more art, though.

I still love the idea of crazy wallpaper in a powder bath. Where else can you get away with that much pattern?!

The chandelier in here is so great. And so is that big teak coffee table!

I just love this photo- masculine and vintage.

The marble fireplace surround works so well with all these funky pieces. What a fun home! Rue Magazine did it again. Love it.
